REDEMPTION: THE INTIMIDATOR RETURNS TO VICTORY LANE AT VARNEY

Posted on: August 17th, 2023

The steam coming from Tim Tolton following late race contact at Peterborough (move and win by Brendan Patrick) was evident, and while the agony of defeat was still raw at Varney, the motivation to win was higher than ever. Tolton had not had the success in 2023 with his Black Magic Team prior to Peterborough, as mechanical issues had plagued Tim as well as guest drivers Billy Zardo & Rick Bastien. This time around, the 3 car settled for outside pole to start the race and found himself in lead at lap one. The championship lead evaporated for the 2021 champ Chad McGlynn, as the 8 car starting showing smoke early in race, resulting in an extended trip to the pits to work on the car. The field behaved themselves all the way to lap 45, until the 12 car of Mark Patrick went around in turn four. After the restart, it was the winner in June Cory McAllister got by for the lead! The battle for the top five got interesting, as Brendan Patrick spun off the nose of Michael Hryniuk Jr! Chad McGlynn tried to limit the damage by heading back out on track before Michael Hryniuk Jr., went around, sustaining damage! Sean Mangin had climbed his way back through the field, but sadly the Brimstone Games Dodge had a mechanical failure leading to another caution. Cory McAllister, who had led for a period of time, also had to climb his way back, as after a flat tire McAllister had to pit, and start from the back. The battle for the top five was fantastic with Brad Robinson, Connor James, McAllister, Ollie Ferguson and Michael Hryniuk Jr. in the fight. In the end, it was the Black Magic Racing Monte Carlo pulling into victory lane for Tim Tolton’s third career OSS win, and his third at Full Throttle, as he was declared winner of the Rea Foods 100! The Ontario Sportsman Series returns to track at Sunset Speedway on August 26!
