With a full moon and high temperatures, our AF International 100 ended with a wild turn of events last night at Peterborough Speedway! Our twin 50 lap races we’re treated as seperate races with some exceptions for incident counts and qualifying points. Our first feature of the night also counted towards our EcoTek Triple Track Challenge! Connor James #33 took first place, beating Shawn McGlynn’s record for all time wins in Ontario Sportsman Series history! Brendan Patrick #02 stood his ground as usual in second place, maintaining his position in overall points this season. Rookie to the series, Mitch Wright, took third place last night in the Two Speed Motorsports #71 car, beating out the likes of Amber Balcaen Racing #47 and Brad Robinson #44. Kevin Trevellin #19 and Mitch Wright #71 got into an altercation mid race which ended with Kevin hitting the wall hard. Everyone was okay but Kevin was out for the rest of the night. Our second feature of the night started with the finishing order of the first feature. It looked like it was going to finish with Connor James winning back to back however, in turn 4 of the last lap, the Two Speed Motorsports #33 lost power and Brendan Patrick #02, having no where to go, spun the #33, with Brendan Patrick taking the win by a hair! Connor James #33 took second, with a decision being made amungst the series race officials and the tower a few minutes after the race ended. In a twist of fate, Shawn McGlynn #9 nailed a third place finish, beating out Mitch Wright #71. Shawn’s car was actually on fire, literally, during our first practice. Having multiple issues and a bad gear, his crew, with some help from the Patrick Brothers Racing team, got a gear thrown in the #9 last minute, and flew through the second feature. Mitch Wright #71 took fourth and rookie to the season and Peterborough Speedway, Cooper Aubertin #25, took fifth place, having stayed out of the carnage all night. Amber Balcaen #47 and Brad Robinson #44 had an accident with the #47 bumping the #44 up into the turn 3 high wall. Brad was out for the rest of the race and the #47 was taken off the track as this was Amber Balcaen’s third incident of the night. Once again thank you to AF International for helping us to put on the show and the staff at Peterborough Speedway for helping ensure our night ran as smoothly as possible, all things considered. We are headed to Flamboro Speedway next as our season winds down, who will take to victory lane?! Find out soon!
